I was watching Criminal Minds on cable and at the end of the show they quoted the 1st phrase from a poem by Emily Dickinson
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,
For
those searching/waiting for an answer which the odds are not high, they
can only cling onto Hope. They live day by day with a small Hope, that
deep inside, some day a miracle will happen and one day they get what
they have hope for. Hope... its out there... u can feel it but u can't
touch it, u can sense it but u can't grasp it.
Here is the full verse
Hope
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.
